Templates themselves can be categorised - without affecting the pages that call them - by putting the category link inside <noinclude></noinclude> tags

The "noinclude" tags specify that the link applies only to the template, and is not included during transclusion|{{#ifeq:|no|| related to}} templates. This is the base category for templates.
